Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Prestressing Tendon

The Prestressing Tendon command is accessible from the Libraries pull-down menu, or selecting its respective icon. This screen shows the prestressing tendon data in the library file. The strands listed upon opening this command correspond to the currently loaded prestressing tendon library file (default.cs2), which was selected under the Libraries Setup option. To load a different library file, must use the Libraries Setup option.

Precast/Prestressed Girder comes with a set of predefined tendon IDs. To add a tendon to the library, follow these steps:

  1. Select a tendon ID from the ID list and a type (stress-relieved or low relaxation) from the Type list. Select the appropriate fpu (specified tensile strength of prestressing tendon) value from the fpu list.
  2. Input the values in the remaining fields; the jacking (initial pull) multiplier, Es is the modulus of elasticity, d is the diameter and area of the prestressing tendon. For Jacking (Initial Pull) Multiplier, enter the percentage of stress in the strand just before release.
  3. Click Add. The new tendon will appear in the list on the screen.
  4. Click Save to save the new prestressing tendon to the currently loaded library, or select Save As to save the prestressing tendon library under a different file name. You will receive a message verifying that the prestressing tendon has been saved to the library.
  5. You can modify an existing item in the list by highlighting it, making the necessary changes, and clicking Modify. To delete an existing item, highlight it and click Delete.
  6. Click Close to exit this screen and return to the Main Precast/Prestressed Girder screen.
